Brother Luck was created in the back of a local bar in downtown Colorado Springs. Chef Brother Luck (yes, that’s his real name) previously of Craftwood Inn Restaurant, decided to start throwing down his own style of dinner parties without any rules. First came the Street Foods Tour, next up was the Wonka Dinner which eventually led into “simple” bar food done full time and taking over the kitchen at the Triple Nickel Tavern. With all of the culinary journeys Brother Luck experienced throughout his career he decided to go back to the basics; stove, burner, food, customer. Urban Cuisine is our approach to Street Foods done inside the walls of a restaurant. Good ingredients with proper technique equals great memories shared by our customers.
Chef Luck was the executive chef for many restaurants before he opened Brother Luck. Most recently he was the executive chef for the Craftwood Inn restaurant located in Manitou Springs featuring local Colorado cuisine and wild game selections. Chef Luck came back to Colorado Springs after his position as Executive Chef for the Hotel Contessa, a personal luxury hotel located in San Antonio, Texas featuring the signature restaurant Las Ramblas which specialized in Spanish cuisine. Prior to that post, Chef Brother was the executive chef for the World of Whirlpool facility: a private 28,000 square foot conference center on the Chicago River. His background also includes a role as executive sous chef for the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, Chef de Cuisine for Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and guest chef at the famous James Beard House in New York City.
Distillery 291 is a small batch distillery making whiskey nestled in the stunning foothils of the Rocky Mountains. Located in Colorado Springs, the distillery sits in the shadows of Cheyenne Mountain and the majestic Pikes Peak which both serve as constant reminders of the founding vision of owner and distiller, Michael Myers, who aims to replicate the taste, smell and folklore of the Wild West -- to make whiskey with the character of that unforgettable era.
Myers is no stranger to whiskey or the West. He spent his youth in the heart of whiskey and horse country inspired by the spirited traditions of Georgia and Tennessee. Names like Daniels, Beam and Dickel were like family in that neck of the woods as were the tales, some of them tall, that accompanied them. Growing up on a rural, gentleman's farm which today rests on 70 lush acres in the rolling hills of North Georgia profoundly influenced his love of the West. Old-fashioned good guys versus bad guys and his love of classic, western movies deepened his passion for cowboys, horses, and saloons which he carried to New York and Los Angeles where he built a successful career photographing some of the world's most famous faces. Still, with each snap of the shutter, this idea of creating some friends for Daniels, Beam and Dickel kept swirling through his head. Myers finally followed his passion and moved the family West and fired up his first run on the still in September of 2011.
Today, Distillery 291 is producing, from grain to bottle, five distinctive whiskey products and one liqueur. The young distillery has earned national and international recognition for its spirtis with unique character and flavor of a bygone era earning bushels of national and international awards. 291 embodies traditions of the past married with the boldness of the future: rugged, refined and, you bet, rebellious. Passion permeates every barrel, and we hope you agree! Cheers to the crazies & Blaze on!
